Auto Accidents
The last thing most people want to do after an auto accident is remain calm. However, accident victims who keep a clear head in the hours after the crash are able to gather vital auto accident information to forward to their insurance companies and attorneys.
What to do After an Accident
- Call the police
- Stay on the scene and request that other motorists involve remain on the scene as well
- If possible, move the vehicles out of traffic
- Gather the following information from the other motorists: names, addresses, phone numbers, driver's licenses numbers, make/model/color of crash vehicles, license plate numbers, registration and insurance information
- Gather the following information from other passenger and witnesses: names, addresses and phone numbers
- After the initial shock has worn off, write down the accident details, such as the date, location, time, weather and road conditions, how fast the cars were moving, and a draw visual picture of the accident
- Take photos of the scene, including skid marks, vehicle damage and injuries
- Do not admit fault to anyone
- Let medical personnel move injured persons
- Get treated for any injuries as soon as possible
- Contact your insurance agency
